Text-Message Stories

Physical Plant Theater is making plays that happen entirely by text message. No set, no lights, no venue to go to. Some stories last an hour. Some last six months. Each one features characters who write to you from their own phone numbers — so that the stories emerge as a set of personal and private communications.

Our current story is Sister of Shattering Glass by the brilliant Katherine Catmull, with images by Annie Gunn and audio by Buzz Moran.

Previous stories include Computer Simulation of the Ocean and Dreams of Riley’s Friends.

To get a quick sense of what it’s like to experience one of the stories, we created a short, one-off demonstration. Try it out by texting the word Llama to 512-309-7732. As soon as you send Llama, you’ll get four short texts within about two minutes.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for us!

Thanks!
