As an Oregon forest fire burns up their homes and everything they own, Agnes and Alfred meet at an evacuation shelter and start their lives over again, together. They are too smart and too brave for their own good. Too roughed up already. Funny at the wrong times. Too right for each other. Too tender and too moody.
Over the course of five scenes and seventeen years, they burn each other down to the bare embers.
